After working as a hospital social worker for fifteen years, she realized many people came into the hospital for more than just physical ailments. Many also needed mental health treatment. For some, earlier mental health treatment may have even prevented later physical problems.
Ms. Gove began her career with NFA in March 2023. She provides individual, couples, child and family therapy for first-responder populations within CO.
Ms. Gove utilizes evidence-based therapeutic interventions including: emotion-focused therapy (EFT), attachment-based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), trauma-informed therapy, written exposure therapy, art- and play-therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. She also includes motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), client-centered therapy, and Psychoanalytic Therapy.
Ms. Gove has a passion to de-stigmatize mental health treatment. She feels this is especially needed within police and fire communities who experience crises, trauma, and/or violence on a regular basis.
When Ms. Gove isn’t working with the community she likes to spend time with family, go hiking, and to travel.
As a Peer Support Trainer/Consultant, Tami has provided training on trauma’s influence on the brain. She will also provide training on leadership issues. She provides training and consultation for First-Responder Peer Support teams and state agencies.
