Emotionally Focused Therapy

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a research supported treatment modality for individuals, couples and families that helps people learn, understand, and share their emotional connection with themselves and others. Often couples and families can become stuck in negative patterns or “cycles” that prevents them from feeling understood and heard. The goal of EFT is to repair old relationship wounds so a couple can move forward using different skills and techniques learned in this attachment based therapy to bring them closer together. EFT is great for any relationship dyad—couples, families, adult siblings, parent-adult child, friendships, etc. Click for more information about EFT

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to work through and process traumatic or disturbing life experiences. EMDR therapy can help with decreasing nightmares, emotional reactions, anxiety, and racing or intrusive thoughts associated with a traumatic event. For more information about EMDR as well as research related to the effectiveness of this treatment, please visit the following websites:
www.emdr.com
www.emdria.org
Several therapists at Nicoletti-Flater are trained in EMDR therapy. If you are interested in this type of treatment, please establish services with an NFA clinician first. You and your treatment provider can discuss whether EMDR would be an appropriate adjunctive service/treatment modality and make a referral if needed.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia is a short-term treatment designed to help with insomnia and poor sleep quality. Through this first-line, gold-standard treatment, clients work on restructuring their thinking patterns and behavioral strategies to be more conducive to healthy sleep. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia is an effective way to resolve sleep issues without pharmacological intervention. Strategies are tailored to the first responder’s individual needs, shift schedules, and sleeping environments.
