Dr. Mariya Dvoskina is passionate about working with first responders and their families, with nearly a decade of experience in this field. Mariya is the NFA emergency response coordinator and is passionate about crisis response and trauma intervention.

Mariya has been providing ongoing counseling and crisis intervention services to first responders and their families for nearly a decade. Her clinical specialties include working with stress, trauma, anxiety, and depression. She is also highly trained in the provision of marital and couples counseling.
Understanding that promoting responder wellness also means providing trauma informed organizational support, Mariya is involved in agency consultation and training. Mariya is involved in peer support training and supervises peer support teams locally and nationally. She is also highly involved in helping agencies develop other wellness initiates. On the public side, Mariya is highly involved with providing threat and violence risk management training, assessment, and consultation. She is a certified Threat Manager through the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (one of only three in the state), and the current Vice President of the Rocky Mountain Chapter. Mariya provides threat assessment consultation to local schools, universities, businesses, local law enforcement, FBI and Homeland Security.
Maryia is a first-generation immigrant and bilingual speaker. After her family moved to United States, she has developed close ties and roots within Colorado communities. She attended CU Boulder for her undergraduate training in psychology and then went on to pursue her graduate degrees at the University of Denver. Prior to starting grad school, she worked as a correctional officer within juvenile offender
settings. Currently, she continues to bring her humor, direct communication style and assertive attitude to her work at NFA.
Outside of work, Mariya enjoys cooking (and eating!) She is an avid dog lover, and enjoys the Colorado outdoors.
