Dr Ungvarsky is an in-patient mental health counselor at Woodruff Hospital (now part of the Cleveland Clinic), Forensic Program Director at North Coast Behavioral Health State Hospital, and Director of Adult Services at Pikes Peak Mental Health.
Dr. Ungvarsky has applied his clinical expertise in numerous private and public agencies. Most recently, he has been a Military Family Life Counselor for Magellan and Leidos, and with Nicoletti-Flater & Associates providing care to law enforcement and other public service employees grappling with trauma and relationship issues.
Dr. Ungvarsky is a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He is a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Dr. Ungvarsky has been a core faculty member at the Colorado School of Professional Psychology and Regis University as well as adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland, Saybrook University, College of Mind/Body Medicine, and Alliant University.
After having served as the Clinic Director of the Switzer Clinic at the Colorado School of Professional Psychology, Dr. Ungvarsky went on to become a Sr Vice-President and later the Interim President after the school was sold to become the University of the Rockies, now part of the University of Arizona Global Campus.
Dr. Ungvarsky chose professional counseling to make a real difference in the lives of law enforcement, fire fighters, other first responders, and military members and their families by helping them understand their own thought processes, emotional regulation, and behavioral/relational patterns in order to improve their mental health.
Dr. Ungvarsky employs a variety of clinical approaches in practice depending upon the specific needs of the client. These interventions include Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and relational/systemic couples therapies.
Dr. Ungvarsky was a professional member of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies Board of Examiners for Marriage and Family Therapists for eight years, serving as chair and vice-chair for seven of those years. He was elected to be a Commissioner on the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education after serving as a site visitor and site visitor chair for several years.
Dr. Ungvarsky has presented at conferences nationally and internationally on topics ranging from Deception and Self-Deception, PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, and military life.
In his free time, Dr Ungvarsky enjoys jet skiing, travel, and has a passion for woodworking.
